Top-seeded Texas Southern learned the identity of their semi-final opponent in the 2011 SWAC tournament, and it will be the Hornets as Alabama State blasted Alabama A&M, 81-61.
Tramaine Butler led all scorers with 21 points for the Hornets, while Kenderek Washington added 16 points and 8 rebounds. The entire Alabama State team had a hot shooting night from all over the court, hitting 47% of their field goals, 86% of their free throws (24-of-28) and 56% (5-of-9) from beyond the arc.
Cornelius Hester paced the Bulldogs with 14 points.
Alabama State will play their second game in as many days in Friday's semifinal, while TSU, as one of the top two seeds under the SWAC tournament format, got the day off to rest.
