New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – Kendall Timmons poured in 25 points to lift the Tulane Green Wave over the Houston Cougars, 80-77, in a Conference USA battle.
Jordan Callahan added 21 points and 12 assists for Tulane (13-15, 3-12 C-USA), which received 10 points from Kevin Thomas.
Maurice McNeil posted 21 points in the heart-breaking loss for Houston (12-16, 4-10), which received 20 points from Zamal Nixon and 13 points from Kirk Van Slyke.
Houston led 34-29 at halftime after shooting 50 percent from the floor in the first half.
The Cougars led 52-51 with 9:15 remaining in the clash, but the Green Wave went on an 11-2 run and never trailed again.
Houston turned the ball over 23 times, overshadowing the team’s 54.7 percent shooting from the floor.
