SWAC Tournament 2011: Opening Round Features Texas Southern, Jackson State

No need to bust out the blockquote button for this schedule, as the SWAC Tournament only plays two games a day, thus giving it’s top two seeds a chance at a rest day on Thursday.

The top seeded Texas Southern Tigers will take on the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at 8 p.m. The Tigers ran away with the SWAC title this year, and should easily dispatch the lowly Lions, who won just seven games this season. In the early game, at 12:30 p.m., the Jackson St. Tigers do battle with the Prairie View A&M Panthers. The Panthers come into the tournament relatively hot, having won four of their last six games, but the Tigers swept them this year.

Neither of these games were deemed important enough to be on television, so you’ll have to follow along online. The winners will be given a day to rest on their laurels while the other four teams are made to play back-to-backs starting on Thursday.
