Owls Blue And Gray Game: Eddington Continues To Shine

Rice's annual Blue And Grey spring game was a victory for the offense, who held on by a 44-34 scoreline to defeat the defense. Jeremy Eddington continued to show the impressive burst that helped Rice upset UAB and East Carolina late last year as he delivered a 77 yard touchdown run. Tyler Smith garnered the bulk of the carries, rushing 10 times for 30 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Taylor McHargue drew the majority of the snaps at quarterback, throwing for 201 yards and a TD on 13-24 passing. The efficiency could have been better, but that's a nice YPA. Taylor Cook led all receivers with five receptions for 68 yards.

The defense accumulated seven sacks, but just one turnover; an Andre Brackens pick on the second-to-last drive of the game. Rice has struggled with injuries in their front seven this offseason, so the sacks were a nice sight to see.

The Owls will open up the season against the Texas Longhorns--at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium--on September 3rd.
