Rice has built a 13-3 lead through two quarters against the UTSA Roadrunners behind two Chris Boswell field goals and a Luke Turner 38-yard touchdown pass to Donte Moore which completed an eight-play, 80-yard drive that took 3:22 off the clock.

Rice quarterback Taylor McHargue has 118 yards passing, but Turner is 2 for 2 with a touchdown as Rice used both quarterbacks in the first half.

Defensively, the Owls have been able to contain the Roadrunners to just three points, as UTSA drove the field on a 16-play, 87-yard drive late in the second quarter, but couldn't punch in the score. Instead the Rice defense forced UTSA to settle for a 20-yard field goal by Kristian Stern.

Only six rushing yards separated the Owls and Roadrunners in the first half, but with far more passing yards, Rice out-gained UTSA in the first half 250 yards to just 146. The Rice secondary has held UTSA to just six completions in the passing game on 16 attempts for only 53 yards.
