Rice vs. Tulsa score update: Owls lead at halftime, 21-14

Despite being 19-point underdogs against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, the Rice Owls claim a 21-14 lead at halftime against the Conference-USA leaders.

The Owls got on the board first with a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown. While the Golden Hurricane tied the score at 7-7 later in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run by Alex Singleton, the two teams continued to trade scores.

Rice's Taylor McHargue rushed 20 yards for a score early in the second quarter and responded to another Tulsa score by finding Luke Wilson in the middle of the field to give the Owls a 21-14 lead.

Neither team has had much success throwing the ball, but with more than 100 yards rushing for each team in the first half, both teams have been able to effectively move the ball on offense. Neither McHargue nor Tulsa's Kalen Henderson have been able to complete more than 50 percent of their passes.
