The Rice Owls will try to earn their third win of the season Saturday when they host Southern Miss at 1 p.m.
The Owls head into Saturday's Conference USA game with a 2-6 record. Rice is coming off a 28-24 loss to Tulsa last weekend. The Owls rode a four-game losing streak this season, but snapped it with a 34-14 win over Texas-San Antonio on Oct. 13.
Southern Miss is still looking for its first win of the season. The Golden Eagles are 0-7 and 0-3 in the conference. Southern Miss lost to Marshall last week, 59-24.
Rice is led by quarterback Taylor McHargue. The junior has completed 56.6 percent of his passes this season for 1,335 yards and eight touchdowns. He's thrown four interceptions this year.
McHargue is also the team's leading rusher, with 490 yards on the ground. He has eight touchdowns on the ground.
Charles Ross is just 3 rushing yards behind McHargue, with 487. He has one touchdown on 84 carries.
