After a big road win over the Kansas Jayhawks in their second game of the season, the Rice Owls were off to a good start that has seemed to have gone for naught. In three consecutive losses, the Owls have allowed a combined 145 points as their defense hasn't been able to stop the likes of Lousiana Tech, Marshall or Houston.
Things haven't been much different for the Memphis Tigers, an 0-4 team that watched their margin of defeat grow in each week. After losing by three to Tennessee-Martin in their opener, they most recently were trounced by Duke, 38-14.
With such poor defenses, the odds makers expect quite the shootout, as they've set the over/under at 61.5 points. To get enough points for a win though, the Owls will need a strong showing from their dual threat quarterback, Taylor McHargue, who is expected to return to the team after an injury withheld him from their game against the Houston Cougars.
