Houston finally got its offense rolling in the final game of the Astros weekend home series with the high-flying Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, pounding out a dozen runs on the same number of hits in posting a 12-0 shutout for the Astros' sixth win of the season.

After dropping the first two games in the series at Minute Maid Park, scoring only one run in each game and nine hits total, Houston was hoping for a little more offensive production, which they clearly got on Sunday. First-baseman Carlos Lee got things started for the Astros with a two-run home-run blast in the opening inning, his second of the year, and center-fielder Jordan Schafer followed that up with a three-run round-tripper in the second inning that put Houston up 6-0.

Chris Johnson and Jason Castro each had two hits for Houston.

Right-handed starter Wandy Rodriquez went seven strong innings, giving up no runs on just three hits to record his first win of the season against two losses. Rodriquez even drove in a run for the Astros to help his own cause.

After finishing the short three-game home stand with Los Angeles, the Astros now head back out of town to Milwaukee, where they will open a three-game mid-week series with the 7-9 Brewers before moving on the Cincinnati for weekend series with the Reds.

News flash. The Houston Astros struggle to score runs. In 15 games thus far this season, the Astros are scoring less than four runs a game. (3.9 runs/game entering Sunday's action) With an inexperienced pitching staff and a barn box for a stadium, the ability to score is vital.

Can Jordan Schafer pick it up at the leadoff spot? Is Jed Lowrie ready to round into form? Is there any life left in Carlos Lee's bat? It seems there are more questions than answers for the Astros, as the league's hottest hitter in Matt Kemp and the Los Angeles Dodgers go for the sweep this Sunday afternoon. Here are the lineups for the series finale.

The Houston Astros will try to avoid the first three-game sweep by the Dodgers in Houston in almost 27 years Sunday when the two teams tangle in the series finale. It doesn't get any easier for Houston who saw Clayton Kershaw toss seven scoreless innings on Saturday with Chad Billingsley on the mound Sunday.

The Astros have lost two straight and turn to Wandy Rodriguez who is looking for some support from his own club. Rodriguez is 0-2 on the season but has a 1.96 ERA. The Astros have managed six runs in his three starts and have committed eight errors.

The offense for the Astros scored only one run for the second straight game against the Dodgers, and the also loss for the second straight game. This time the Astros lost 5-1.

Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw is responsible for shutting down the Astros offense by pitching seven scoreless innings, striking out nine, allowing three hits and walking two. As for the Astros they brought out Kyle Weiland who pitched fairly well by going six innings and allowing three runs, but he did give up a two home runs with one to James Loney and Matt Kemp.

The pitching for the Astros took a turn for the worst when Rhiner Cruz came in to relieve Weiland as he pitched only 2/3 of an inning and allowed two runs, two walks and a hit to give the Dodgers a commanding 5-0 lead.

The lone run by the Astros was scored when J.D. Martinez knocked in Justin Maxwell in the bottom of the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth the Astros were shutdown by Jamey Wright who pitched a perfect ninth inning.

The Houston Astros face a tough task Saturday night, as they take on the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers in game two of Houston's three-game set against Los Angeles.

Houston dropped the first game on Friday night, losing 3-1. Matt Kemp his eighth home run of the season in the first inning, and the Dodgers never gave up the lead.

On Saturday night, the Astros will send Kyle Weiland to the mound. Weiland is still looking for his first win of the season, and is also looking to avoid receiving his third loss of the year as well. Weiland is 0-2 with an ugly 8.44 ERA and 2.25 WHIP through his first two starts.

Kershaw gets the nod for Los Angeles. Though he has yet to receive a decision, Kershaw has pitched well through his first 15.1 innings of the season. Kershaw sports a 2.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Kershaw has struck out 13 on the year while walking four.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT. Televised coverage of the game can be found on Fox Sports Houston. Radio coverage can be found on KTRH 740.

The game was essentially over after the first inning when the Dodgers scored two runs in the run when Matt Kemp hit a two-run home run off of J.A. Happ en route to a 3-for-3 performance from the plate. The Astros would get on the board in the the fourth inning when Chris Snyder recorded his second RBI of the year by knocking in Brian Bogusevic.

The Astros were held in check by Ted Lilly who earned the win by pitching six innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out five. Happ got the loss and was always in trouble Friday night as he allowed at least one hit in each of his six innings of work.

The Astros missed a golden opportunity in the fifth inning when they loaded the bases with two outs, but came away with nothing when Jed Lowrie grounded into a force out to end the inning.
