Jordan Lyles deserved a better fate but the Astors bullpen faltered late and drops the series finale to the Cincinnati Reds 6-5.

Lyles pitched well allowing three runs on four hits in six innings of work. He left the game leading 5-3. Wilton Lopez surrendered back-to-back singles by the Reds in the seventh and was lifted in favor of David Carpenter. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third, Carpenter struck out Drew Stubbs for the second out of the inning. Joey Votto followed with a double to right that tied the game at 5-5.

Fernando Rodrguez came on in the eighth for the Astros and gave up a lead off home run to Jay Bruce that proved to be the winning run for the Reds. Sean Marshall closed things out for Cincinnati in the ninth.

Jose Altuve continued his torrid stretch going 3 for 5 to raise his average to .373. Jed Lowrie banged out a couple of hits including his second homer of the season while driving in three runs. Matt Downs hit his first home run of the season for the Astros.

Votto had two hits for the Reds including his second homer and the game-tying double in the seventh. He finished with four RBIs in the game. Zack Cozart and Ryan Hanigan each had two hits for the Reds.

Logan Ondrusek earns the win with a scoreless inning of relief for the Reds. Rodriguez gets tagged with his third loss of the young season for Houston.

The Houston Astros are looking to win the series against the Cincinnati Reds in the finale on Sunday afternoon. However, it will not be easy as the Astros are starting Jordan Lyles who has been called up to replace the injured Kyle Weiland. Lyles did not make the rotation out of spring training but at AAA he went 4-0 with a 3.46 ERA in four starts.

The Reds are brining out Matt Latos who is only 1-2 in this young season, but in his career he has done well against the Astros by going 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA in four starts against the Astros.

The bats for the Houston Astros once again fell silent as they were shutout 6-0 against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday afternoon. The Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed only five hits. To finish off the shutout the Reds brought out Logan Ondrusek to pitch the eighth and Aroldis Chapman closed out the game in the ninth innings.

Lucas Harrell was the starting pitcher for the Astros and he gave up all six runs in the game while pitching six innings. The damage came in the second, fourth and six innings where the Reds scored a pair of runs in each. It was Reds outfielder Jay Bruce who led the way for the Reds by going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the win.

The Astros offense never got going and when they did get players on base that is where they ended up, and for the game the Astros left eight men on base.

The Houston Astros will look to win their third straight game on Saturday, as they continue their series against the Cincinnati Reds.

Lucas Harrell (1-1, 3.97 ERA) gets the start for the Astros. Harrell has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde so far this year. In his second start against the Miami Marlins, Harrell surrendered four runs in four innings, and in his most recent start, Harrell gave up five runs in five innings against the Brewers. In his first start, Harrell didn't give up a run against the Rockies in seven innings, and in his third start, he gave up just one run over 6.2 innings against the Nationals.

Houston's offense will face off against Johnny Cueto (2-0, 1.78 ERA). Cueto has been very effective so far this year, holding hitters to a .229 average against while striking out 19 in 25.1 innings on the young season.

Carlos Lee, who sprained his ankle in Friday night's win over Cincinnati, will likely not be in the lineup. Manager Brad Mills said that Lee will need two days off, but that X-rays were negative.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CT. Televised coverage can be found locally on Fox Sports Houston, and the game can be heard on the radio over on KTRH 740.

On Friday night, Carlos Lee was forced to exit Houston's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the first inning because of a sprained left ankle. Luckily for Lee and the Astros, X-rays on Lee's ankle were negative, and Houston manager Brad Mills only expects Lee to miss two games.

Per Fox Sports Houston:

Astros first baseman Carlos Lee left in the first inning because of a sprained left ankle. X-rays were negative, but Mills expects Lee to miss two games.

"I knew I hurt it pretty good," Lee said. "It takes a lot to get me out of a game. This was one of those games.

Lee suffered the injury in the first inning while attempting to dig out Chris Johnson's low throw to first base in the first inning. So far on the season, Lee is hitting .273/.349/.390 with two home runs and 13 runs batted in. Hopefully for the Astros, Lee is unaffected by the injury when he returns to the starting lineup.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a triple, double, and two RBIs to lead the Houston Astros to a 6-4 win over Cincinnati in the first of a three game series. Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez, who gave up just two runs on six hits in six innings. Rodriguez got the benefit of an early 6-0 Astros lead. J.D. Martinez is hitting .313 on Houston's current road trip, and he and Altuve started the offense early.

Chris Johnson scored Jeff Lowrie in the fourth inning on a RBI double, making the score 3-0. Jordan Schafer's two-out RBI single put the Astros ahead 5-0. Then it was Altuve again, hitting a RBI double.

One big area of concern for Houston: First baseman Carlos Lee sprained his left ankle on the first play the bottom of the first inning and did not return. Lee planted his foot on a throw to first and went down immediately in pain.
