For the second straight game, the Astros pitching kept the Milwaukee hitters in check. This time, J.A. Happ threw six scoreless innings as the Astros defeated the Brewers 4-0 to complete a two-game "sweep," if you're into that kind of thing.

All four of the games runs were scored in the fourth innings. In the frame, Jed Lowrie hit a two-run home run, Chris Snyder singled home a run and Jordan Schaefer singled home another. After Happ, Wesley Wright, Wilton Lopez and Fernando Abad combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

After a four-game losing streak, the Astros have won back-to-back games for the first time since a five-game winning streak at the beginning of the month.

The Astros broke a four-game losing streak by thumping the Miwaukee Brewers 8-3 in the first game of their series, and did so by finally scoring runs. The eight runs Wednesday matched the total for the four previous losses combined, while the Brewers have only scored six total runs in their last three losses.

Carlos Lee is the man of the moment in Houston's lineup. After a 3-for-4 night on Wednesday, he's hitting 10-for-17 (.588) in his last four games. He's now averaging .305, and has become the heart of the Astros' offense.

Carlos Lee and Bud Norris continued their respective hot streaks, combing to help the Houston Astros take an 8-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of their series in Houston. Norris won his third consecutive start, holding the Brewers to four hits and one run in seven innings of work, with nine strikeouts. Save for a solo home run by Corey Hart, the Brewers never put a runner past second base against Norris.

Lee was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run, notching his fourth consecutive multihit game and leading the Houston lineup. The first baseman is now hitting .366 with two homers and nine RBIs in his last 19 games, nine of which have featured two or more hits. Lee started the scoring in the second with a leadoff single, then scored from first on a double.

The Houston Astros are set to open up a two-game series with the defending National League Central champion Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night. Astros fans will get a glimpse of the reigning National League MVP as well, as Ryan Braun will be batting third for the Brewers tonight -- as is custom for the Brew Crew.

Both managers have announced the starting lineups for Wednesday night's game, and they are as follows:

Milwaukee Brewers

Nyjer Morgan, CF
Rickie Weeks, 2B
Ryan Braun, LF
Aramis Ramirez, 3B
Corey Hart, RF
George Kottaras, C
Travis Ishikawa, 1B
Cesar Izturis, SS
Randy Wolf, SP

Houston Astros

Jordan Schafer, CF
Jose Altuve, 2B
J.D. Martinez, LF
Carlos Lee, 1B
Jed Lowrie, SS
Justin Maxwell, RF
Chris Johnson, 3B
Jason Castro, C
Bud Norris, SP

Even without Prince Fielder, Milwaukee's lineup is pretty solid, though suffice to say, Ishikawa is no Fielder. We'll see if Norris can have some success against the Brewers, and move the Astros closer to .500.

The Brewers and Astros meet up for a two-game series following Milwaukee's series win last month. Both teams are looking to make a move out of the bottom of the NL Central.

Through a solid month and a half of the regular season, the good news is that the Astros are only a game back of the defending NL Central Champion Brewers, but the bad news is both clubs are closer to last place than first.

Bud Norris will start the two game series on the hill for Houston, and was excellent in his last outing, a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh featuring eight strike outs. Despite ranking eighth in the NL in runs scored, the Brewers have had 12 games of two runs or less with a wildly inconsistent offense.
