TCU has been able to rely on its pitching to carry the Horned Frogs all the way to the College Station Regional championship game against Ole Miss, and if the success continues Monday night, TCU gets a shot at UCLA in the the Super Regional.

Stefan Crichton and Brandon Finnegan gave the commendable starting efforts for TCU and Justin Scharf 1 2/3-inning save was crucial for the Horned Frogs as well. TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle has already said he believes momentum starts with the starting pitcher, so it will be interesting to see he puts Andrew Mitchell on the mound to start the game.

Either way it goes, they're playing for "all the marbles," as Schlossnagle put it to the Fort Worth Star Telegram:

"It just feeds from one guy to the next," he said. "But the past never equals the future. We're just going to try to grind it out one more day for all the marbles in this regional."

Read TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle's comments on how long momentum will last for his team:

"To me, momentum is the next day's starting pitcher. That's the old baseball saying. Momentum today was Crichton and Finnegan. We swung the bat well. I've always said this and I may be wrong, but the game begins and ends with starting pitching. When a guy goes out there and keeps them at-bay, that gives your hitters confidence. If you're always fighting from behind, then it's a nightmare. I'm hoping we can continue swinging the bat, but we're playing one of the elite teams in the SEC and they have some guys that they haven't pitched yet. Our pitching is going to have to give us a chance, and then hopefully we'll get enough timely hits."

This will be a final matchup of the No. 2 seed TCU, which comes in with a 39-20 record, against the Rebels whose record sits at 37-25.

Texas A&M fell to Ole Miss 6-3 and now are facing an elimination game on Sunday. Mike Mayers had a great outing against Texas A&M as he limited the Aggies to three runs, four hits, and struck out a career-high nine batters in 6.1 innings.

The strong pitching continued for Ole Miss as reliever Brett Huber held the Aggies to a single hit over the next two innings, and then R.J. Hively closed it out by retiring the final two batters with two runners on to secure the win for Ole Miss.

Texas A&M did get on the scoreboard first by scoring a pair of runs in the third inning, but Ole Miss countered with a pair of runs in the third, fourth and six innings to pull away for the win.

Next up for Texas A&M is to face TCU in an elimination game on Sunday afternoon.

TCU used an impressive offensive showing to avoid being eliminated as they thoroughly defeated Dayton 28-12. The 28 runs is the most so far in the NCAA Tournament. TCU's offense really came alive over the final four innings where they scored seven runs in the sixth, six in the seventh and then nine runs in the ninth inning.

Prior to that offensive outburst effort the game was actually tied at four runs apiece as TCU scored four runs in the second inning and and Dayton matched that in the third inning. Dayton also led 9-6 heading into the sixth inning after scoring another four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

TCU finally found some pitching when Justin Scharf and Nick Frey combined for 3.1 innings of shutout baseball, and during that pitching effort TCU put up 13 runs to secure the win.

A few key players for TCU's offense in the win came from Brance Rivera who went 1-for-2 but he had six RBI, scored four runs and his only hit was a home run. Another was Jerrick Suiter who went 5-for-6, scored three runs and had three RBI.

Texas A&M will get a taste of life in the Southeastern Conference on Saturday, as they'll face future division rival Ole Miss after both teams advanced in the first round of the College Station Regional on Friday. The Rebels used a big eighth inning and the arm of ace Bobby Wahl to down No. 2 seed TCU 6-2, while A&M's Michael Wacha continued to shine, striking out nine and allowing only five hits in a 4-1 win over No. 4 seed Dayton Friday evening.

The Aggies will now send senior Ross Stripling, part of their 1-2 "ace" combination in the rotation, to face Rebel sophomore Mike Mayers. Meanwhile, Dayton will try to keep its first-ever NCAA Tournament run alive against TCU in the elimination game Saturday afternoon.
