Aggies Pick Up Another Top Athlete

Mike Sherman added to his already impressive recruiting class this past week with the verbal commitment of Missouri City, TX athlete Bralon Addison. Addison is rated as a 4-star wide receiver and the 155th overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. He is the eighth 4-star prospect to pledge to the Aggies so far for the 2012 signing class. The 5' 10" and 182 pound Addison has been clocked at 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and chose Texas A&M over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Addison will likely play on the offensive side of the ball at A&M and represents another big recruiting victory for head coach Mike Sherman, who has already put together one of the nations best collections of talent at the offensive skill positions, including two 4-star quarterbacks in Matt Davis and Trevor Knight, as well as 4-star running backs Trey Williams and Davante Bourque.Sherman also added two less publicized players on Wednesday, to bring the total number of verbal pledges to 23. Jerald Hawkins is yet another steal from the state of Louisiana, and measures in at a monstrous 6'7" and 285 pounds. He is an "under the radar" player, but could be a destructive force at end or tackle in A&M's 3-4 defense. He could also project to offensive tackle if he can add enough weight and technique, but I would look for him to land on defense. The second player was Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defensive back Otis Jacobs, who is in the same mold as current A&M starter Coryell Judie, and could be an immediate contributor in the secondary and as a return man on special teams, not to mention that he carries one of the coolest first names ever. Stay tuned for more recruiting updates as Mike Sherman looks to fill the last few spots in this year's class.
