Former Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson Goes First Overall In 2011 UFL Draft

After not being drafted in the NFL Draft this past weekend, Jerrod Johnson got some good news via Twitter on Monday night. The Hartford Colonials took Jerrod Johnson with the first overall pick in the 2011 UFL Draft on Monday, which was conducted via the social media network.

Johnson had an excellent 2009 season as a junior, and was thought to be a pretty highly regarded NFL prospect entering his senior year. But he regressed significantly in his senior year, ultimately losing the starting quarterback job to Ryan Tannehill. The UFL is certainly not quit as good as making an NFL roster, but with the current lockout in place and teams unable to sign undrafted free agents, this might just be Johnson's best opportunity to play football for a living; at least until that lockout is lifted. But if he decides to play for the Colonials, and is pretty successful in doing so, than the NFL may come calling after all.
