The Aggies are getting plenty of pub as a team this preseason, but despite a large increase in their offensive efficiency with Ryan Tannehill under center, the senior quarterback doesn't seem to be getting much NFL Draft love. Part of that is, obviously, that he's only started seven games, but he's been slotted behind a number of quarterbacks not named Andrew Luck, including Matt Barkley and Ryan Lindley.
↵The National Football Post's Wes Bunting, who runs their draft coverage, has taken quite a liking to Tannehill's 2011 tape though, and predicts that he may yet be a first rounder:

In my mind he's the most intriguing senior quarterback prospect in the class. Tannehill only has seven starts under his belt as a QB. However, he's decisive, accurate and a gifted athlete inside/outside the pocket. He displays a real understanding of the game and I expect him to take off this year as a QB prospect.
Talking to friends who watch more Aggies games than I do, they tend to think Tannehill doesn't have elite QB aspirations, but could be a decent quarterback with a Matt Schaub ceiling. I'd say that wouldn't be enough to be a first rounder, but the Vikings picked Chrstian Ponder 12th overall and he wasn't really any more of a prospect than Tannehill. Perhaps he should be monitored after all.
