Bob Stoops' Oklahoma Sooners were already ranked number one in the USA Today Coaches Poll as the preseason hype surrounding their program continues to build. Because Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles are both returning to lead the Sooners' high-octane offense, it makes sense that they are the preseason #1.
Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Boise State were the other schools that received first place votes, rounding out the top five in this early poll.
The Big 12 was well-represented with three schools in the top ten (#8 Texas A&M and #9 Oklahoma State), and Nebraska is ranked #10 to begin their first season in the Big Ten.
You have to go all the way back to 1998 to find the last time that the Texas Longhorns were not ranked in the preseason Top 25.
