J-Mychal Reese (6'2, 170), the highly touted 2012 point guard out of Bryan High School, verbally committed to the Aggies after an on-campus visit Friday afternoon. According to ESPN, Reese is the #2 point guard in the country and chose Texas A&M over Kansas and Louisville. Their scouts had this to say about Reese's strengths:
↵↵↵Reese is a left-handed scoring machine. He has a very quick first step to the basket and he can finish with a variety of shots, including a nice runner/floater. If the paint is cut off by the defense, he has a tight pull-up jump shot. His shot is smooth and his range extends to 20-feet. Although he is a tremendous scorer, he does have the ability to find the open man as well. Defensively, he slides his feet very well and he has quick hands.
↵
Reese's father, John, is the coach at Bryan High, and he's apparently been offered an assistant coaching job with the Aggies as well. Sporting News is reporting that John Reese will accept the job and join Glynn Cyprien and Kyle Keller as assistants under new coach Billy Kennedy.
↵While many Texas A&M fans were upset when Mark Turgeon bolted for Maryland this offseason, Kennedy hasn't wasted any time winning their hearts back.
