The Texas A&M Aggies enjoy one of the best home field advantages at Kyle Field with the 12th Man and a stadium that will rock when the students lock arms and sway back and forth during the school song. However, that home field advantage could be put on hold in either the 2013 or 2014 season as Kyle Field is going to be renovated with the temporary home possibly being Reliant Stadium.

A move to Reliant Stadium is the last resort according to school officials, but it is an option if necessary. Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin does not want to displace the football team for a full season. Bowen mentions that Kyle Field has been lagging behind other top programs in regards to their stadium:

"The lower decks of the west and east sides are about 90 years old," he said of the need for a heavy-duty overhaul. "We certainly haven't kept pace with other college stadiums around the state and around the country over the last few decades. We're (beginning) a very thorough study to look at a large variety of design options."

Having to play each home game at Reliant Stadium will take away from the atmosphere of the game ranging from pre-game festivities to the actual game itself. A lot of Texas A&M alums live in Houston so there will be no issue with Reliant Stadium being empty, however the biggest losers will be the local businesses in College Station, because Texas A&M will survive regardless if they play one season away from Kyle Field but some of the local business will not survive without the six to eight home games.

There is no decision at the moment as the school is undertaking a study to decide what to do next, and that study can take as much as six months before any action can be taken.
