I'm not sure how I feel about this one, as recently fired Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman is interviewing with Tampa Bay for its now-vacant head coaching job.
↵I like Mike Sherman. He's a smart guy who was always professional when I talked to him after practices. He also got a bad shake at A&M this season, getting blamed for a .500 record and not getting the team over the top.
↵If your head coach gets fired and then immediately lands an NFL job, you may have made a bad decision. This isn't a situation like Pete Carroll or Nick Saban, who left for an NFL job. No, this was a guy who was deemed not worthy to coach in the SEC, so he was let go for an unproven but fast-rising coach in Kevin Sumlin.
↵Are the Bucs going to be a tougher turnaround than the Aggies in the SEC? It's going to be a close race. Sherman isn't about to get that job with the Bucs, but the fact that he's getting interviewed does not bathe A&M in glory.
