The LSU Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies have both improved their position in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll. LSU, idle this weekend, jumps a spot to No. 5, courtesy of the Florida Gators 17-9 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Texas A&M bumps five spots to No. 16 after a 63-21 demolition of Auburn.
Alabama remains the consensus No. 1 team in the poll, with the Oregon Ducks holding the No. 2 spot and the Big 12's Kansas State Wildcats coming in at No. 3. Undefeated Notre Dame sits one spot ahead of LSU at No. 4.
LSU and Texas A&M are joined by five other SEC teams in this week's poll: Alabama at No. 1, Georgia at No. 6, Florida at No. 8, South Carolina at No. 11 and Mississippi State at No. 18.
LSU has a huge contest next weekend, when the Tigers will host No. 1 Alabama. Texas A&M will face Mississippi State on the road.
