Kevin Sumlin: Johnny Manziel will meet with media 'soon'

A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin continues to keep freshman QB and Heisman Trophy candidate Johnny Manziel away from the media.

Texas A&M Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin continues to keep quarterback Johnny Manziel and the team's other freshman from meeting with the media. However, Sumlin says he'll free up the Heisman Trophy candidate to speak publicly "soon," per AggieSports.com's Robert Cessna.

This probably isn't the week for that to start, with the Aggies preparing for their meeting with the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, so Sumlin's response of "soon," which he has been using since September, will likely continue until at least after this weekend.

Manziel's debut season in college football has been a memorable one. The Kerrville, Texas native has thrown for 2,527 yards and 16 touchdowns, and has tacked on another 922 yards and 15 scores on the ground.

Manziel is ranked No. 6 in ESPN's latest 2012 Heisman Watch experts' poll. In the Aggies' game against Alabama on Saturday, Manziel will square off against one of the players ranked ahead of him in Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron.
