Texas A&M Football 2012: Ryan Tannehill's Replacement Still Undetermined

The Texas A&M Aggies have just wrapped up their spring workouts. One of the biggest questions surrounding the team is who will take over as the starting quarterback in 2012. Former starter Ryan Tannehill is projected to be the No. 3 quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft, leaving a large vacancy at the position.

According to Jason Kirk of SB Nation, the spring sessions have made little headway toward determining a clear-cut candidate to take over the starting QB role in the upcoming season. Jameill Showers, Matt Joeckel, Johnny Manziel and incoming recruit Matt Davis are all up for the job. Head coach Kevin Sumlin had this to say about the situation:

"We don't have a starting quarterback right now," he said. "What you saw Saturday is we've got some capable guys but they have to understand their strengths and weaknesses. ... That's not to say Jameill couldn't do it. We've had a little more time than the public did in the hour and a half they saw the other day."

Showers is the only candidate among the four who has game time experience, although that may not end up being the determining factor if one of the others can make and argument for himself during the lead-up to the 2012 season.
