Texas A&M Football 2012: Spring Game In The Books

It's no mystery that Texas A&M fans ought to get used to a lot of offense from their football team under new head coach Kevin Sumlin, and they saw plenty of it in the team's spring game on Saturday, as the White team outlasted the Maroon squad 48-44.

According to ESPN.com Chris Low, sophomore quarterback Jameill Showers "probably had the better spring" than redshirt freshman Johnny Manziel, but each remains a possibility to replace Ryan Tannehill under center.

Receiver Ryan Swope, a senior to-be, was a bright offensive spot, catching eight passes for 156 yards and two scores. Defensively, the Aggies were without a pair of leaders in tackle Jonathan Mathis and safety Steven Campbell.

Texas A&M finished just 7-6 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play last season, prompting the school to move on from head coach Mike Sherman and replace him with Sumlin. Notable offensive pieces to replace as the team moves on to the SEC include Tannehill, receiver Jeff Fuller, and running back Cyrus Grace, who have each moved on to the NFL.
