Texas A&M 'Unaware' Of Kameel Jackson Transfer From Oklahoma, According To Report

Former Oklahoma Sooners receiver Kameel Jackson confirmed via Twitter this weekend that he's leaving the OU program, but early reports that he's headed to College Station might be premature. SoonerScoop.com is reporting that Jackson to Texas A&M is not at a done deal by any measure:

That source tells us A&M, and even head coach Kevin Sumlin, was unaware Jackson was interested in transferring to A&M as of last night.

That same source also said A&M would not be interested in bringing in Jackson as a transfer because of their current situation at the wide receiver position.

That "current situation" involves a verbal commitment from 2013 prospect Jamar Gibson (Baytown, Texas) as well as leads on several other top wideouts nationally, as Kevin Sumlin reworks the A&M offense to a spread attack. Two starters - Ryan Swope and Uzoma Nwachukwu - will return for the Ags this fall.

SoonerScoop.com also reports that Jackson has not filed the appropriate paperwork to make the OU-to-A&M transfer and is also facing off-field academic issues that would've clouded his eligibility this season. Jackson didn't play in the final spring scrimmage for OU. He had 12 receptions for 165 yards in his true freshman season.
