Texas A&M Football 2012: Steven Jenkins, Howard Matthews Suspended One Game Each

The first disciplinary action of the Kevin Sumlin era in College Station has occurred, as announced by the Texas A&M football official Twitter feed:

Jenkins is a rising senior linebacker who had 61 tackles and one sack in 13 games last season, starting six, after coming to A&M from Coffeyville CC (Kansas). Matthews is a rising sophomore defensive back, and had 28 tackles and one forced fumble last season, starting two games but appearing in all 13.

The specific cause of the suspension, the standby "team rules violation," was not elaborated upon, nor did the school specify which game the pair would miss. The Aggies open the season August 30 at Louisiana Tech before hosting Florida in Week 2.
