Texas A&M Could Have New Athletic Director In Place By Next Week

The Texas A&M Aggies are looking for a new athletic director ever since Bill Byrne decided to resign with one year left on his contract back on May 8. So far few names have been linked to the job and the latest is Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich, but he has denied having been contacted or any interest in taking the Texas A&M opening.

Texas A&M is holding a regents meeting this Friday and the top item on the agenda is to find a new athletic director:

"Authorization for the President of Texas A&M University to take any and all action to identify a candidate; and negotiate and execute an employment agreement with such candidate as Texas A&M University's Athletic Director."

Outside of Radakovich the only name that has come up is Houston's Mack Rhoades, but that was very early in the process of looking for Byrne's replacement. After the regents meeting there should at least by a name known for who Texas A&M is going after, and it is possible that the new athletic director could then be named as early as next week.
