We're still in July, but watch lists were revealed for college football's Maxwell (for the nation's best player) and Bednarik (for the best defensive player) awards on Monday. Included on these lists were two Texas A&M players.
The defensive representative was linebacker Sean Porter. Last year for the Aggies, he had 79 tackles and 9.5 sacks as a junior.
On the offensive side of the football, senior running back Christine Michael received the honor. A season ago he rushed for 899 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Houston Cougars also had a representative on the Maxwell list -- running back Charles Sims. As a redshirt sophomore in 2011, Sims ran for 821 yards and nine touchdowns.
The rest of the watch lists will be revealed between today and July 20. The Mackey Award for top tight end and Rimington Trophy for top center will announce their watch lists on Tuesday.
