The Texas Longhorns got off to a strong start on Saturday afternoon, scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the game against the Kansas Jayhawks. Joe Bergeron muscled his way into the end zone for a three-yard rush that capped off a four-play, 43-yard drive.
It was all Jayhawks after that. KU tied the game at 7-7 early in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run from Christian Matthews, evading multiple Longhorn tacklers. Tony Pierson then capped off Kansas' next drive with an 11-yard touchdown rush to take a 14-7 lead.
David Ash has not played well on Saturday. He has completed 6-of-11 pass attempts, throwing for 43 yards and an interception. Jonathan Gray has been the lone bright spot on UT's day, rushing for 51 yards on just four carries.
Kansas has run the ball all game long. They've rushed 33 times for 177 yards, good for an average of 5.4 yards per carry. Quarterback Michael Cummings is 2-of-5 for 21 yards through the air.
The second half is about to begin in Lawrence.
