The latest BCS standings are out, and consequently, the latest 2012 college football bowl projections are also out. The LSU Tigers, believed to be BCS title contenders earlier this season, are currently projected to play in the Cotton Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Playing in the Cotton Bowl is certainly nothing to sneeze at, as it is perhaps the most prestigious non-BCS bowl game. Traditionally, the game pits the No. 2 team in the Big 12 against an SEC team -- and it's typically the best non-BCS SEC team as well.
The Tigers can claw back into the BCS picture and national title picture on Saturday night, when they play host to the Alabama Crimson Tide. A win by LSU would certainly catapult the Tigers into the BCS picture once again.
The Texas Longhorns, meanwhile, are currently projected to take on the USC Trojans in the Alamo Bowl, while the Texas A&M Aggies are slated to take on the Michigan St. Spartans in the Gator Bowl.
