Despite trailing by 14 points at halftime, the Texas Longhorns came all the way back in the second half against the Cincinnati Bearcats, tying the game at 52-52 with three minutes left to play.
Unfortunately for the Longhorns, they'd never take the lead.
J'Covan Brown turned the ball over, leading to an easy layup by Cincinnati's Yancy Gates, putting the Bearcats back up by two. Sheldon McClellan then missed a three point jumper, leading to a Cashmere Wright layup, extending Cincinnati's lead to four.
Cincinnati padded their lead to six following a missed three pointer by Brown, and at that point, the Bearcats never looked back, as Texas failed to even make it a one possession game in the last minute.
Brown led the Longhorns in scoring, with 19 points. He also added six assists and five rebounds.
Texas' poor first half doomed them, as Cincinnati opened the game on a 16-2 run. The Longhorns were held to just 17 points in the first half.
Gates led the Bearcats in scoring, going 7-of-12 from the field for 15 points. He also added 10 rebounds.
